Cocalico Youth Soccer Club

Cocalico Youth Soccer Club (CYSC) is a comprehensive program for U6 (Kindergarten) through U19 designed to place the focus on teaching our youngest players the skills needed to truly enjoy the game of soccer.  At U6 through the U8 program will be based on having fun and learning skills.  Once they graduate into our Recreational (Rec.) and Select programs the players will progress into the 8v8 style of play, all the while working on their skills, footwork and knowledge of the game.  Our soccer club is a non-profit organization that is made up of members of the community that volunteer their time in a variety of ways.  We encourage parents to get involved at every level.

U6 Program

Cocalico Youth Soccer Club's U6 Program provides players ages 4-5 the opportunity to have fun and learn soccer skills in a co-ed environment.  Group training will teach the basics of soccer in a fun and encouraging setting.  While there are no formal "teams", parents are encouraged to participate as "parent helpers."  We are in the process of changing our program but we are looking forward to having Wednesdays as a practice day and Saturdays as a game day in a small sided, instructional format.  When attending sessions please wear the club uniform provided for you, shin guards, spikes (sneakers are allowed), and bring a water bottle and a size #3 soccer ball.  Extra layers under the uniform are suggested for warmth during cooler months.

U8 Program

Cocalico Youth Soccer Club’s U8 Program provides kids in 1st and 2nd grades the opportunity to develop their skills in a progressive program.  This program teaches the fundamentals and builds on them as players progress through the Club's age groups.  Kids will play small-sided games to demonstrate their newly-learned skills.  At this age, the focus is on having fun and developing fundamental ball skills, not on the competitive aspects of the game.  Games are held on Saturdays at Cocalico soccer fields.  A one-hour weeknight practice is held on the day selected by the volunteer parent coach (a great way to select your child’s practice night is to become a volunteer coach – training and materials are provided).  Kids will need a size 3 soccer ball, shin guards and water.  Uniforms will be purchased separate from the registration fee.

Recreational Program U10-U19

Cocalico Youth Soccer Club's Recreational (Rec.) Program provides kids in Grades 3 – 12 (U10 –U19) the opportunity to further develop their skills in a progressive program and to participate in league play within Lancaster County.  This program builds on the fundamentals and teaches players about sportsmanship and teamwork.  There are four age groups in the Recreational Program – U10 (grades 3 & 4), U12 (grades 5 & 6), U14 (grades 7 & 8) and U19 (grades 9-12).  Teams are formed and will play against other same age group recreational teams within a close proximity.  You will travel to other opposing Clubs’ fields.  Individual player development remains the focus at all levels of this program.  Instruction also includes tactics and team concepts.  Coaches provide the opportunity for players to play and learn a variety of positions.  The composition of teams may be revised after the fall season, depending on the number of players who sign up, the ability of those players and the number of volunteer parent coaches.  The focus of the Recreational Program remains on player development, rather than team building.  League games are held on Saturdays and Sundays at various venues in Lancaster County.  Two (90-minute) weeknight practices are held on the days selected by the volunteer parent coach, (a great way to select your child’s practice nights is to become a volunteer coach – training and materials are provided.)  The program is open to all players without residency restrictions.  Players will need a size #4 ball (U10/12) or size #5 ball (U14 and up) soccer ball, shin guards and water.  Uniforms will be purchased separate from the registration fee.

Select Program U9-U19

Cocalico Youth Soccer Club's Select Program is the highest level of play for kids in Grades 3 – 12 (U-9 to U-19) and provides the opportunity to further develop their skills in a progressive program and to participate in league play within Lancaster County.  You will travel to other Clubs’ fields. This program continues to build on the fundamentals and also teaches advanced skills, sportsmanship and teamwork.  Teams participating in the Select Program typically play 10 to 12 games a season against other club select teams.  In addition, teams can participate in tournaments during the fall and spring season.  The club is not responsible for any registration or fees associated with tournaments or indoor play.  The team, (coach and parents), are independently financially responsible for anything outside of League games, playoffs or festivals.  Players participate in open tryouts each spring (for the fall and following spring season) and are assigned to teams based on skill level.  Tryouts will be held for all new and returning players.  Uniforms will be purchased separate from the registration fee.  Players will need a size #4 ball (U10/12) or size #5 ball (U14 and up) soccer ball, shin guards and water.  Uniforms will be purchased separate from the registration fee.
