Welcome to
the home of the Colcalico U6 soccer club.
U6 News:
Dear U6 Players and
Parents,
My name is Eric Metzger and I will be the U6 program
coordinator for the upcoming soccer season. I wanted to
provide you some information on the program for the
upcoming season.
The U6 team will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6pm to
7pm starting on Wednesday, September 10 and lasting
through Wednesday, October 29. We will be practicing on
Field B which is one of the soccer fields located across
the street from the Cocalico High School.
As there are over 40 children signed up for the program,
I will need parents to help at each practice to ensure
that the kids stay focused and have a productive
practice. No experience is necessary and it is okay if
you can only help periodically. Come on out and have
fun with your kids when you can. If you are interested
in helping out on a more regular basis, please email me
at
emetzger@ptd.net.
My goals for the program include having fun, introducing
your child to the sport of soccer, beginning to build
some basic soccer skills, having them meet new friends
and ensuring your child has a positive experience.
While there are no formal 'games' for the U6 program, we
will be splitting the Wednesday night practices into two
sessions as follows:
-the first half focused on individual fitness and skill
building via fun drills
-the second half focused on small team
scrimmages/'games'
Just a reminder that each child is to bring the
following with them to practice: a size 3 soccer ball,
shin guards (very important), sneakers or cleats and a
water bottle. They can wear any type of shorts or
sweats for the program. At the end of the first
practice, we will be providing T-shirts to each child as
their 'official' uniform.
We are currently planning on a photographer coming to
practice to take pictures on Wednesday, September 24 at
6pm. We are asking that every child wear their uniform
T-shirt and arrive a few minutes early to ensure that we
can start taking pictures at 6pm. If there is no other
team scheduled to use the field at 7pm that evening, we
plan to extend practice to 7:30. I will provide more
details as we get closer to that date.
While we plan to practice every Wednesday evening as
outlined above, weather conditions may occasionally
require that we cancel practice. If we need to cancel
practice, this information will be posted to the website
as soon as possible (preferably by 5pm). The website
address is
www.cysc.org.
Please feel free to email or call me should you have any
questions. My home telephone number is 336-2695.
Thanks. I look forward to meeting you and your child in
September.
